There were many robberies done by Muhammad and his men but I just excluded the unsuccessful ones. In the beginning of Islam, Muhammad and his gang had scanty budget for daily consumption so they resorted to banditry. They ambushed many caravans, seized their goods, killed some caravanners, and captured the rest of them for ransom. The group of Muhammad also attacked many tribes, killed the inhabitants, seized their treasures, and captured people for ransom.
[Tabari 17:187] “‘By God, our religion (din) from which we have departed is better and more correct than that which these people follow. Their religion does not stop them from shedding blood, terrifying the roads, and seizing properties.’ And they returned to their former religion.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 392] Allah’s Apostle said, “I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: ‘None has the right to be worshipped but Allah’. And if they say so, pray like our prayers, face our Qibla and slaughter as we slaughter, then their blood and property will be sacred to us and we will not interfere with them except legally.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 2977] Allah’s Apostle said, “I have been sent with the shortest expressions bearing the widest meanings, and I have been made victorious with terror (cast in the hearts of the enemy), and while I was sleeping, the keys of the treasures of the world were brought to me and put in my hand.”
