Are Arab Muslims the owner of Palestine? Did the Jews grab Palestine from them?
Palestine was the Canaan, the land given to Israelites by God at the time of Moses [Numbers 34:2]. The word ‘Palestine’ is derived from the word ‘Palaestina‘, a Latin version for the Greek word ‘Palaistine‘, which was used by the Greeks to refer to a district of Syria in the 5th century. ‘Palaistine’ is a corrupted word for Biblical name of a tribe called ‘Philistine’. This tribe vanished when the Assyrians conquered them 800 years before Christ. When the Jews revolted against the Roman Empire in the years 66 to 74, the Romans renamed Israel and the surrounding areas into ‘Syria Palaestina‘, adopting the Greek word ‘Palaistine’. The intention of the renaming was to erase the identity of the Jews.
In the late 6th century the Muslim Arabs (Rashidun) conquered Israel, Egypt, Jordan, and Syria which were under the Byzantine Empire (Christian region). More than 400 years later, the Catholic Church was compelled to launch a Crusade due to the Muslims’ control over the Holy Land and their mistreatment of Christians. The main goal was to take back Jerusalem (holy land) from the grasp of Muslims. The crusaders were able to take Jerusalem back from the Muslims in the year 1099. But in the year 1187, another group of Muslims (Saladin) captured the City again. In 1229, a Crusade was formed again and regained control of the holy land. But in the year 1517, another Muslim group (Ottoman) reconquered the holy land. The Ottoman Empire ruled the holy land for 400 years until 1917 which was ended by the United Kingdom of Great Britain. The British allowed the scattered Jews to return to their homeland. Then the British proposed two states in Palestine to solve the conflict between the Jews and Arabs namely; Jewish state and Arabs state. But the Arabs could not accept the proposal though only a small portion of land was allotted to the Jews. In consequence, the war (‘six-day war‘) broke out between Israel and the Arab countries (Egypt, Jordan, and Syria). The Jews defeated the Arabs, and occupied the Sinai Peninsula, Gaza strip, West bank, and Golan Heights which were formerly controlled by the Arabs. Israel left Sinai Peninsula under peace agreement with Egypt in 1982, and in 2005, Israel also left Gaza strip. The Arabs in Gaza took the name Palestine as their own identity.
So the slogan “Free Palestine” is just a propaganda by Arab Muslims since Gaza strip or State of Palestine was already freed by Israel since 2005. Had Israel not left Gaza, the Arabs could not have built massive tunnels and could not have stocked massive armaments such as missiles, launchers, and high-powered firearms. And there is no such thing as “Ethnic cleansing” conducted by the Jews because the people who occupy Gaza strip are not ethnic but Arab colony. Likewise, there are only 22,000 people killed during Israel’s attack, too little compared to the 2.048 million population in Gaza strip to conclude that there is an ethnic cleansing going on. If we talked about ‘Palestinians’, it includes the Jews because they live in the region called Palestine. In fact, they are the true owner of Palestine (Canaan) as given by God Himself to them.
