And We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them except with truth, and the Hour is surely coming, so overlook (O Muhammad SAW) their faults with gracious forgiveness.

In Islamic belief, Jesus is regarded as merely a human being and a messenger of God; therefore, worshiping Him is considered idolatry. Because of this belief, many Muslims view Christians as kafirs, mushriks, or idolaters for associating Jesus with God. In contrast, Muslims strongly proclaim that they worship only one God and that Allah has no partner. But is this claim consistent with Islamic teachings?

Before answering that question, it is important to understand that Islam contains teachings which many critics see as contradictory. For example, on one hand, Islam teaches that Jesus is only human, yet on the other hand, it attributes to Him extraordinary roles such as being the Messiah, performing miracles, and judging mankind. On one hand, Islam speaks of “no compulsion in religion,” while on the other hand, some Islamic traditions contain commands regarding punishment for those who abandon the faith. Likewise, Muslims declare that Allah is one, yet they also emphasize Tawhid, often translated as the unity or oneness of Allah.

Critics argue that the Quran’s use of terms such as “We,” “Our,” and “Us” when referring to Allah raises questions about the nature of this divine unity. Some further claim that certain Islamic practices—such as reverence toward the Black Stone and the exalted status given to Muhammad—go beyond simple monotheism. According to these arguments, Muhammad is elevated to such a high position that some critics even describe him as receiving honor that belongs only to God.

Below are the evidences and arguments often presented by critics who claim that Muhammad occupies an extraordinarily elevated position in Islam.

A.) Obey Muhammad so that you may obtain mercy. If you obey Muhammad, you obey Allah at the same time.

[Qur’an 24:56] And establish prayer and give zakah and obey the Messenger – that you may receive mercy.

[Qur’an 4:80] He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah; but those who turn away – We have not sent you over them as a guardian.

[Sahih al-Bukhari 2956] Narrated Abu Huraira: That heard Allah’s Messenger saying, “We are the last but will be the foremost to enter Paradise. ” The Prophet added, “He who obeys me, obeys Allah, and he who disobeys me, disobeys Allah. He who obeys the chief, obeys me, and he who disobeys the chief, disobeys me.

COMMENT: This indicates that Allah is dependent on Muhammad, that His grace can be attained only through the believer’s Faith in Muhammad

B.) Allah commanded the muslims to honor and glorify Muhammad morning and evening.

[Qur’an 48:9] That you may believe in God and His Messenger and support him and honor him and glorify Him morning and evening.

C.) Allah and his angels pray for Muhammad, and commanded the muslims to pray for Muhammad and salute him. If you pray for Muhammad once, Allah will pray ten times for you.

[Qur’an 33:43] Palmer Translation. He it is who prays for you and His angels too, to bring you forth out of the darkness into the light, for He is merciful to the believers

[Qur’an 33:56] Palmer Translation. Verily, Allah and His angels pray for the prophet. O ye who believe! pray for him and salute him with a salutation!

COMMENT: Most official Quran translators covered the true translations of these surahs.

[Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 645] Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, “If anyone prays once on me, Allah will pray ten times on him.'”

D.) Who is this god that Allah worships?

[Qur’an 1:5] It is You we worship and You we ask for help.

COMMENT: Since the Muslims claimed that the Quran is direct word of Allah, then the speaker we (Allahs) has another Allah being worshiped as stated in the Quran above.

E.) Allah revered Muhammad for his immense noble status, and even swore by Muhammad.

[Qur’an 15:72] By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly.

Ibn Kathir’s Explanation:
Verily, by your life, in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. Allah swore by the life of His Prophet, which is an immense honor reflecting his high rank and noble status. `Amr bin Malik An-Nakari reported from Abu Al-Jawza’ that Ibn `Abbas said: “Allah has never created or made or formed any soul that is dearer to him than Muhammad. I never heard that Allah swore by the life of anyone else.

F.) Muhammad did not take Shahada while Allah did, that means Allah is just a member of Muhammad’s Islam.

[Qur’an 3:18] Allah bears witness that there is no god but He, and (so do) the angels and those possessed of knowledge, maintaining His creation with justice; there is no god but He, the Mighty, the Wise.

G.) Allah prayed to Muhammad so that he may forgive the sins of the people because Judgment is near.

[Qur’an 15:85]

Muhsin Khan . And We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them except with truth, and the Hour is surely coming, so overlook (O Muhammad SAW) their faults with gracious forgiveness.

Pickthall. We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them save with truth, and lo! the Hour is surely coming. So forgive, (O Muhammad), with a gracious forgiveness.

Yusuf Ali. We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, but for just ends. And the Hour is surely coming (when this will be manifest). So overlook (any human faults) with gracious forgiveness.

COMMENT: This indicates that Allah has no concern about forgiving the sins of the people, but it depends on the hands of Muhammad whether he will forgive the people or not. In this regard, Muhammad is god while Allah is the intercessor.

H.) Muslims pray to Muhammad five times a day

I.) Muhammad is more authoritative than Allah, for he abrogated qurans.

The three daily prayers prescribed by Allah was replaced by Muhammad with five prayers

Allah’s Commandment:

[Qur’an 11:114] And keep up prayer in the two parts of the day and in the first hours of the night; surely good deeds take away evil deeds; this is a reminder to the mindful.

[Qur’an 24:58] O you who believe! let those whom your right hands possess and those of you who have not attained to puberty ask permission of you three times; before the morning prayer, and when you put off your clothes at midday in summer, and after the prayer of the nightfall; these are three times of privacy for you.

Replaced By Muhammad:

[Sahih Al-Bukhari 528] Narrated Abu Hurairah: I heard Allah’s Messenger saying, “If there was a river at the door of anyone of you and he took a bath in it five times a day, would you notice any dirt on him?” They said, “Not a trace of dirt would be left.” The Prophet added, “That is the example of the five (daily compulsory) Salat (prayers) with which Allah blots out (annuls) evil deeds.”

[Grade: Sahih (Darussalam), Reference: Sunan Ibn Majah 2867]

‘Awf bin Malik Al-Ashja’i said: “We were with the Prophet – seven or eight or nine of us – and he said: ‘Will you not give pledge to the Messenger of Allah?’ So we stretched forth our hands and someone said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, we have already given you our pledge. On what basis shall we give this pledge?’ He said: ‘(On the basis that) you will worship Allah and not associate anything with Him, you will establish the five daily prayers, you will listen and obey’ –

The Nikah mut’ah (temporary marriage) commandment of allah was canceled by Muhammad

Allah’s Commandment:

[Quran 4:24] Forbidden to you are married woman, except what your right hand possesses. This Allah has written for you, and all other women besides these are permitted to you, so that you may seek them out with your wealth, seeking chastity and not fornication. So when you have contracted temporary marriage [istimt’atum] with them, then give them their words. There is no sin on you for whatever you agree to after this. Indeed, Allah is Knowing, Wise.

Canceled by Muhammad:

[Sahih Bukhari Volume 5, Book 59, Number 527] Narrated by ‘Ali bin Abi Talib: On the day of Khaibar, Allah’s Apostle forbade the Mut’a (i.e. temporary marriage) and the eating of donkey-meat.

[Sahih Bukhari Volume 9, Book 86, Number 91] Narrated by Muhammad bin ‘Ali : ‘Ali was told that Ibn ‘Abbas did not see any harm in the Mut’a marriage. ‘Ali said, “Allah’s Apostle forbade the Mut’a marriage on the Day of the battle of Khaibar and he forbade the eating of donkey’s meat.” Some people said, “If one, by a tricky way, marries temporarily, his marriage is illegal.” Others said, “The marriage is valid but its condition is illegal.”

J.) Muhammad can guarantee Paradise to boys who could give their private parts to him.

[Sahih al-Bukhari 6807] Narrated Sahl bin Sa`d: The Prophet said, “Whoever guarantees me (the chastity of) what is between his legs (i.e. his private parts), and what is between his jaws (i.e., his tongue), I guarantee him Paradise.”

[Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2408] Sahl bin Sa’d narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: “Whoever guarantees for me what is between his jaws and what is between his legs, I shall guarantee Paradise for him.”

K.) Allah disclosed that the Quran is the word of Muhammad, the noble messenger.

[Quran 69:40] That indeed, the Qur’an is the word of a noble Messenger.

Watch: The Quran is the word of Muhammad

COMMENT: If the Quran is the word of Muhammad, and Allah testified it, that means Muhammad is a god of Allah, and Allah is his messenger.
