The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things.” Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am he.”The word of Jesus, John 4:25-26
The Hebrew word ‘Messiah’ literally means ‘the Anointed one’, but its whole meaning is ‘the anointed king of God’. The Greek translation of Messiah is ‘Khristós’ (Χριστός), anglicized as Christ. So Messiah, Christ, and the Anointed one are synonymous. So someone to call Jesus as Messiah or Christ is acknowledging his kingship. Below are Biblical verses talking about the Anointed king of God.
