“You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out his desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, refusing to uphold the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, because he is a liar and the father of lies”
Allah as the “best of deceivers” or the “best of plotters.” Muslims commonly argue that the Arabic word used in these verses conveys the idea of strategic planning or countering the schemes of others, rather than deception in a negative or immoral sense. Critics, however, contend that the plain and literal meaning of the text raises important questions about the nature and character of Allah as portrayed in the Quran, particularly when these verses are read alongside other passages. In this article, we will examine the relevant Quranic verses associated with the title “the best of deceivers” or “the best of planners.”
[Quran 3:54] And they plotted, and Allah plotted. And Allah is the best of plotters
[Quran 7:99] Did they feel secure from Allah’s plotting? None feels secure from Allah’s plotting, save the people who are losers
[Quran 8:30] And [remember] when those who disbelieve plotted against thee, to capture thee, or to slay thee, or to expel thee. They plotted, and Allah plotted. And Allah is the best of plotters
[Quran 10:21] When We make men taste mercy after hardship has befallen them, behold, they have a plot regarding Our signs. Say, “Allah is swifter in plotting.” Surely Our messengers record whatsoever you plot
[Quran 13:42 ]Those before them also devised plots, but all plotting belongs to Allah; He knows what every soul earns, and the disbelievers will come to know for whom the ultimate outcome of the abode is.
[Quran 4:157] And [for] their saying, “Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah .” And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain.
