Surah 24:33 is one of the irrational statements of the author of the Quran. God supposedly forbids a master from forcing their slave girls into prostitution, but if a Master do force them, God would forgive the sins of the girls who are coerced into it. And why would the Quranic god (named Allah) allow the girls to be forced into prostitution? Because He is All-Forgiving and Most Merciful to them. Allah allowed the girls to be raped by sex buyers, yet He still called Himself Most Merciful. Meanwhile, the master who forced his slave girls into prostitution is not considered to have sinned. This is the kind of righteousness and morality that Allah promotes, and that Muslims are taught to follow.
• [Quran 24:33] Let those who find not the wherewithal for marriage keep themselves chaste, until Allah gives them means out of His grace. And if any of your slaves ask for a deed in writing (to enable them to earn their freedom for a certain sum), give them such a deed if ye know any good in them: yea, give them something yourselves out of the means which Allah has given to you. But force not your slave girls to prostitution when they desire chastity, in order that ye may make a gain in the goods of this life. But if anyone compels them, yet, after such compulsion, is Allah, Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful (to them)
COMMENT: “. . . But force not your slave girls to prostitution . . . “. We can see here that Allah allows a Muslim to make his female slave a prostitute, provided that he does not force her and that she does not desire chastity. However, if a master does force his slave girl into prostitution, he is not said to have committed a sin; instead, Allah promises to forgive the slave girl who was compelled into prostitution. This raises an obvious question: What is the purpose of such a law if a Muslim incurs no punishment or guilt for forcing his slave into prostitution? If there is no consequence for the master, then the prohibition appears to be ineffective.
• [Sunan Ibn Majah 2517] Jabir bin `Abdullah was heard to say: “We used to sell our slave women and the mothers of our children (Umahat Awaldina) when the Prophet was still living among us, and we did not see anything wrong with that.”
• [Bulugh al-Maram book 7, hadith 14] Narrated Jabir (RA):We used to sell our slave-women who had borne (our) children while the Prophet was still living, and he saw no harm in that.
• [Bukhari Kitabul Qadr 3:543] A man inquired, “We earn income from these bondwomen, (other narratives mention prostitution) so can we do coitus interrupts with them?” The Prophet said, “There is no sin in doing that”
COMMENT: The statements in the hadiths above correspond with what is stated in Quran 24:33, which allows a Muslim to make his female slave a prostitute. Muslims may also rape their female slaves, since they are mentioned here as the mothers of their children. If you notice, there seems to be a slight sense of caution or conscience among Muslims that what they are doing is wrong. However, since Muhammad permitted it, saying, ‘There is no sin in doing that,’ they continued what they were doing.
