The Hebrew word “Messiah” literally means “The Anointed” or “The Anointed One”, but its contextual meaning is “The king anointed or appointed by God”. God decreed His Word to be His son, sent him to the world, dwelt in a man, and anointed him to be the king of mankind. The Greek translation of Messiah is ‘Khristós’ (Χριστός), anglicized as ‘Christ’. Therefore ‘Messiah’, ‘Christ’, and ‘The Anointed One’ are synonymous. Thus, to call Jesus ‘Messiah’ or ‘Christ’ is equal to calling him ‘King’. Below are Biblical verses telling us about the Anointed King of God.
